Carsten Kessler

crstnI am an Associate Professor for Geoinformatics in the Department of Planning at Aalborg University Copenhagen. Before I moved to Copenhagen in 2016, I was an Assistant Professor for Geographic Information Science at Hunter College, City University of New York and Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Research of Spatial Information. I am still an adjunct faculty member in the Earth and Environmental Sciences program at the CUNY Graduate Center. Until fall 2013, I was a post-doc researcher in the Semantic Interoperability Lab at Institute for Geoinformatics, University of Münster, Germany. I have also worked as a consultant for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, Switzerland.

In German, my last name is actually spelled Keßler, with a ß. Abroad, I usually go by Kessler. In case you were wondering: the ß also pronounces like a double s, not like a b.
