Study Project: Open Street Maps

ifgi study project for BSc students in winter semester 2010/2011, Carsten Keßler.

This study project will cover one (or several) of the following issues in Open Street Maps (OSM):

• OSM Data Model
• Trust and reputation in OSM
• Tagging approaches
• Data integrity
• Automatic completion / correction of OSM data
• OSM as Linked GeoData
• ...

Topics will be selected by the participants. Depending on the number of participants, several topics can be dealt with in small focus groups. No previous knowledge of OSM is required; however, programming skills will be required.

Interested students should contact Carsten Keßler and join the organization meeting (see below).

Dates

• The participants will meet Thursdays, 12:15
• Organization meeting:
  Tuesday, 12, October Wed., 13. October 2010, 18:15 @ ifgi 2.0 meeting room (3rd floor at Weseler Str.). Topics to discuss: find weekly slot for meetings, pick topics, discuss students' backgrounds, etc.
