Carsten Kessler

crstnI am an Associate Professor for Geoinformatics in the Department of Planning at Aalborg University Copenhagen. Before I moved to Copenhagen in 2016, I was an Assistant Professor for Geographic Information Science at Hunter College, City University of New York and Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Research of Spatial Information. Until fall 2013, I was a post-doc researcher in the Semantic Interoperability Lab at Institute for Geoinformatics, University of Münster, Germany. I have also worked as a consultant for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, Switzerland.

In German, my last name is actually spelled Keßler, with a ß. Abroad, I usually go by Kessler. In case you were wondering: the ß also pronounces like a double s, not like a b.
